Marks & Spencer Pitch
In our pitch to Marks & Spencer, we wanted to create fragrances that would stand out from their traditional assortment. I designed our pitch presentation, came up with 6 personas to identify customers, and developed 3 sets of designs that took unique approaches—both graphically and from a naming perspective. I wrote all the copy for the last 2 sets of designs, essentially developing stories that would correspond to personas and customers we envisioned buying these products. (Tru Fragrance)
Option 1
Option 2
Option 3
For these, I wrote stories for each scent and incorporated them into the design on each carton.
Some excerpts from the “Tableaux” series above that I wrote:
SIMPLICITY’S MUSE
She throws a few more branches into the fire, watching as the flames dip, then rise and spark against the purple sky. She thaws her hands with a steaming mug of hot chocolate, listening and laughing as her friends recount their misadventures from day’s hike along the rocky coastline. As the sunlight fades, only the fire intermittently illuminates her rosy cheeks and toothy smile, capturing snippets of her effortless with its glorious orange glow.
HER ADVENTURE IS HER OWN
The vast room is silent in that deafening manner of a large empty space just before the crowd arrives. Her first show is about to open and she’s sprinting from image to image, making sure everything is as it should be, nothing out of place or crooked. Her stomach is doing somersaults and her mind is racing through the speech she’ll be giving. What will they say? But she shakes her head, it doesn’t matter what they think. She looks up toward the photograph that gives her chills even now, nods, turns, and steps gracefully toward the large mahogany doors and the people waiting behind them.
